Does Texas require a general contractor's license?
No - Texas does not license general contractors statewide. Electricians and HVAC/mechanical contractors need a license from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), and plumbers need one from the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners (TSBPE).
